HISTORY: Rubloff Residential Properties has been part of the fabric of Chicago and its outlying areas since 1930. The company’s founder, Arthur Rubloff, built the largest real estate company of its kind in Chicago and is often referred to as “the man who changed the face of Chicago.” Rubloff coined the nickname ”Mag Mile” for the section of North Michigan Avenue that extends from Oak Street to the Chicago River and includes One Magnificent Mile, the location of the company’s award-winning corporate headquarters.
Rubloff also created the master plan for the North Loop and sponsored the redevelopment of Old Town, today one of the city’s most exclusive neighborhoods. He built the Carl Sandburg Village residential high-rises on Chicago’s Near North Side. He also developed Hyde Park’s University Gardens. Besides his contributions to the city's skyline and neighborhoods, Arthur Rubloff also left a philanthropic legacy in Chicago. His endowments are found in the Rubloff Law Library, at Northwestern University Law School; in the Rubloff Auditorium and Collections, at the Art Institute of Chicago; in Rubloff windows, at the Chicago Loop Synagogue; in the Arthur Rubloff Intensive Care Tower, at the University of Chicago Hospitals; and in the Arthur Rubloff Auditorium, at the Chicago Historical Society. In keeping with his tradition of giving, the company continues to support numerous civic and community endeavors. In 1996, the partnership of Howard Weinstein and Tom Horwich acquired Rubloff's residential division. Weinstein had been the company's C.O.O. and president, and Horwich brought a background in real estate development and management. Their hands-on management style and capital investments to expand offices and services have built Rubloff Residential Properties into one of Chicago's most respected real estate firms. In 2000, Rubloff opened an office in New Buffalo, Mich. to serve the Harbor Country area and in the fall of 2006, expanded to Evanston to serve the North Shore communities.
